Market day

Today is Monday and that means it is Market Day. About a 1 kilometer walk from our home, only on Mondays, is a travelling market. In Spanish the little shoppes are called "tianguis". We buy our fresh fruits and vegetables at the market. Meats, canned products and frozen foods we get at Costco. Today we bought 1 kilo of tuna (a fruit that grows on cactus, not a fish), 3 kilos of mangos, 2 kilos of red grapes, 3.5 kilos of bananas and a kilo of tortillas. A kilo is about 2.2 pounds. We did not buy any vegetables since we had some left over from last week. We bought 10.5 kilos or 23.1 pounds of food for $170 Pesos or about $16 dollars. Costco is not as cheap but we are not brave enough to buy our meat in an open air market with no refrigeration anywhere. Since it is also the beginning of the month, our rent was due so we went and paid that as well.
