Quienceanera

Hello everybody! Welcome to the worlds best blog ever!

In December I was invited to a quienceanera. A quienceanera is the party that a girl gets when she turns 15(quince is Spanish for 15). It is supposed to signify when she becomes "a woman"and is allowed to start dating. It is a VERY big deal the parents end up spending about as much money on the party as a wedding or more! The girl gets 7 "bridesmaids"and 7 "groomsmen" plus her to make the number 15. Then at the beginning everybody goes to the church so that she can say some vows about how she will stay with the faith and stuff. After they all go to the party where her Dad takes off her flat shoes and puts on high heels to signify that she is now a woman. She takes her first dance with her dad, which they had rehearsed for months. Then the bridesmaids, groomsmen and her do a special dance that they practiced. While they dance dinner is being served to the guests. After dinner and the dances everybody dances to a band that the girl chose. No, I didn't dance, I'm baptist. It was a lot of fun, and I would like to have my own quienceanera this year.

Adios!
